SONS OF GUNS II - 17 more bands with an appetite for destruction
Track 15 - Red Light Rippers - Runnin'
Red Light Rippers sound like Motley Crue after a dog fight, or maybe GN'R on a diet of lunch meat, tap water and bathtub speed. Runnin' was the first thing we heard last time we woke up on the floor. |

"Red Light Rippers are really a 'highlight'. The new album has its own sound, fortunately it’s not mainstream. It is too soft for punkrock and too crazy for Glam/Sleazerock. Shortly: RLR rock!" |

IN, TURN ON, ROCK OUT! - 20 tracks from some of the
best new bands on the planet
Track 13 - Red Light Rippers - Trailer Trash Trixie
Their names say it all: Rip Skinner, Staci T. Rat, Bonz
and the slightly more prosaic Stephane DeBernardi. Their
influences are AC/DC, ZZ Top, Van Halen, Guns N' Roses
and Buckcherry - and they deliver red-zone hard rock,
with just a touch of rip-it-to-shreds punk. And a dab
of Motley-approved, dirtbag devilry. If you're after
some sensitivity, then avoid this lot, cos their appetite
stretched no further than the nearest bar, the most
available stripper, and the biggest chest of drugs they
can summon up from the depths of their depravity. Sleaze
is back on the menu - tuck in! |

LIGHT RIPPERS Nobody Likes A Rat
CD 06 (Fading Ways)
Maybe nobody likes a rat, but I sure as hell am liking
whats going on in Canada these days! Everybodys
getting wild up there! Priestess, Mad King Ludwig,
Crystal Pistol, Captain Tractor, hell even ol
Alex Lifeson decided to get rippin a couple New
Years Eves ago. And now in my hands Ive
got a nice little package from the RED LIGHT RIPPERS
(thanks to a kewl, eye-grabbing review from Sleazegrinder
in Classic Rawk.). Heres the dealio,
now children! First I look at these guys and they look
cool. One guys got a Volume 4 shirt
on. Points there. Another guys got a FUCK
belt-buckle on. More points. Nuther dude looks
like early Mick Mars & is wearing a Weekly World
News shirt with a picture of a bat child
and words like kill, eat, etc.
on the sleeve. Bonus points. Now there names: Rip Skinner,
Staci T. Rat, Stephane DeBernardi (gotta have one guy
with a real kinda name, adds to the street-cred, honcho),
Bonz. Yeah, the drummers name is Bonz. Ok, now
that youve gone thru this crap for a paragraph,
put the disc in, Ray. Whaddya got?! I hear early Cheap
Trick, I hear early (i.e. first album) Crue. I hear
Stooges. I hear some screwed up, black-painted dive
somewhere in Manhattan in the late 70s where
if you didnt have something with a skull inked
somewhere on your body youd probably get your
ass kicked. Most of all, in the very middle of it, I
hear nearly pop-like melodies I cant forget taking
names like Pills, This Dog &
Trailer Trash Trixie. I hear RAAAAAWWWWWWKKKKK! |

LIGHT RIPPERS - Nobody Likes a Rat (Fading Ways)
Two years after their now legendary demo started making
the rounds in seedy strip-joints, outlaw biker bars
and underground fight clubs all over North America,
Canadian glam-slammers Red Light Rippers finally go
global with this gloriously trashy debut on UK Label
Fading Ways. Like a piece of hard candy with a warm
bubble of arsenic hiding in the centre, the Rippers
lace their chewy pop hooks with dark suicide glam and
wrap the whole nasty package in skull rings, fire, low-rent
groupies, wah-wah guitars and old Motley Crue posters.
Hard-luck stories like Addicted, Beat Down and Trailer
Trach Trixie drag you into a seedy underworld of desperate
characters and authentically sleazy, back-alley slither
rock. Thrilling stuff. Who knew there were evil Canadians?

Foot to the floor, stocked n' dropped, hot-rod racing
cool as a '73 Dodge charger street-punk trailer trash
loving rock 'n roll. You can smell the flame- burst
door decals and the beer stained bowling shirts from
here. Bad ass street punks with half a foot in the land
of Bon Scott, Guns n'Roses, Wildhearts and Nazareth.
Raw, delivered with just the right no frills gritty
in-your-face hi-energy attitude, they appear to be from
Canada and if this sounds like your kind of thing then
they do it damn well and they're worth all your time
and that money you would have wasted on beer. |

Heavy With a Touch of Sleaze
The last time I heard unknown sleaze rock that was this
good it was by a band called Guns N Roses...
It's one of those records that leaves you

LIGHT RIPPERS -
Nobody Likes a Rat (FADING WAYS MUSIC/SONIC RENDEZVOUS)
Now
this band knows how to play good old late 80s American
Sleazy Hard rock at it's best. With comparisons to Crash
Kelly, Major NA, Cats'N'Boots, and Faster Pussycat this
is an ultimate classic Sleazy Metal release from a Canadian
band. The Toronto based band will be an absolute must
if you miss the days of Guns"N'Roses, Kix, Britny
Fox, Dangerous Toys, Motley Crue, etc. 30 minutes of
cool classic 80s Sleazy Rock and Roll can be heard,
with as highlights the songs "Addicted" (very
strong catchy almost melodic hard rock type of song),
"This dog" (even a bit Streethearts/Starz/Teaze/Moxy
classic 70s Canadian Hard rock mixed with Alice Cooper)
and "C'Mon baby". One to own if you're a fan
of the Perris Records releases.
